BAND BIOGRAPHY
Recently
voted one of the top ten hottest acts in Atlanta, GA by Jezebel
Magazine, Bachelor Red continues to heat up the Southeast
with their brand of penetrating pop songs. Influenced by female-fronted
acts such as Blondie, No Doubt, and Lone Justice, classically
trained Rebecca Gauthier delivers the vocal intensity of Gwen
Stefani, the lyrical prowess of Aimee Mann, and the sexy cynicism
of Liz Phair to deliver melody-driven music to the masses.
Since the debut of their self-released 5 song EP, Bachelor
Red has garnered critical praise from the media and some of
Atlanta's hottest radio stations: "This is straight up pop
just the way I like it…Rebecca's vocals fold into her band
in a perfect power-pop blend", enthuses deejay Steve Craig
from WNNX 99X, Atlanta's #1 alternative radio station where
Bachelor Red has performed live in the studio. Dan Call from
96Rock agrees: "Bachelor Red has risen to become one of Atlanta's
finest rock acts in an extremely short time. Every time we
play their EP, the call-ins are great. We dig them!" Tracks
such as the roots rock influenced "Reconsider" and the upbeat,
catchy, hook-laden "Pour Me" have enjoyed radio play on both
99X and 96Rock as well as WRAS 88.5, one of the largest college
radio stations in the country. Bachelor Red's songs are also
starting to hit the big screen; their power ballad "Starfish"
a mixture of sweeping guitars and aching vocals is featured
in the independent film "Irish Eyes" starring Daniel Baldwin.
Bachelor Red has developed a dedicated fan base throughout
the Southeast and East Coast into Canada by playing their
high intensity live act in such well-respected clubs and listening
rooms as: The Bitter End and Arlene's Grocery
in New York City, The Middle East and T.T. the Bear's
in Boston, The legendary 40 Watt in Athens, and
in their hometown of Atlanta, The Cotton Club and Smith's
Old Bar. Whether Bachelor Red is playing full band electric
or stripped down acoustic in an intimate setting, the songs
speak for themselves. They have sold over a thousand disks
internationally at their shows and through their website.
Bachelor Red has also performed in a slew of high profile
events and prestigious music conferences such as NEMO 2003,
Atlantis Music Conference 2003, and CMJ 2002. They played
on the 99X stage at The Music Midtown Festival 2003 with national
acts that included Sheryl Crow, Evanescence, and Bob Dylan.
In August 2003 they opened up for Tonic as part of the Miller
Lite Concert Series at Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC playing
for thousands of civilians and military personnel. They have
also performed at Atlanta Gay Pride 2002, 2003, NOPI Nationals
2002, and Women in Music Showcase hosted by NARAS. Bachelor
Red also made their first television appearance this year
playing live on Channel 46's Good Morning Atlanta program.
They are currently in the studio working on a full-length
album that will be released this fall.
